To achieve optimum quality, specialist knowledge and skills are required. Hospitals increasingly regard mammography as a specialty (or a separate area of interest), but a specific additional training was not available. To improve and ensure quality, the LRCB has designed a (re)training for all radiographers who are involved in mammography.
Specialized Radiographer Mammography (InCompany)
Good mammography quality is one of the requirements for a successful breast cancer screening programme. It is important to detect subtle changes at an early stage, so that tumors can be discovered. A mammogram should meet high standards, in terms of positioning and physico-technical image quality. Focus should be on image uniformity and quality patient care.
